Welcome Back to School

Welcome back to school for an action-packed term ahead. We hope you had a restful Christmas, and we wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. We commence this term with a cold snap so please be aware our buses may be late or find it difficult to operate normally if weather and road conditions are icy. All providers will endeavour to let the school know as early as possible on such mornings. So please keep an eye on the app for updates as they unfold.

As we know, excellent attendance is vital for good academic results. Can all our students continue to arrive fully prepared and on time for all classes. Evening study continues to be on offer for all students from 4pm to 6pm, Monday to Thursday evenings. Good study habits are key to success. Please continue to present to school in full school uniform, with a black or school jacket only please. We are proud of our uniform, and we encourage all our students to continue to wear it with pride.

Our Parents Association are hosting a Table Quiz on January Friday 12th at Hylands Hotel, Ballyvaughan starting at 8pm. Tables of 4 – 40 euro please. There will also be refreshments and a raffle on the night. All proceeds go to Mary Immaculate Secondary School.

Leaving and Junior certificate students will sit Mock examinations commencing the first week of February and ending just before February midterm - February 12th to 16th inclusive. A timetable will issue to all students and parents in the coming days.

TY students will show case their annual Mary Immaculate TY Musical Back to the Eighties from February 7th to 9th in the Pavilion Theatre Lisdoonvarna. Posters and social media advertising will follow in the coming weeks.

During this term sports will take place and also a cross section year groups will also go to Paris in March for a French and Art cultural educational trip.

Parent teacher meetings take place for First years on February 1st and for Second and Ty’s on March 6th, from 4.15 pm to 6.45pm.

Finally, Mary Immaculate Secondary school is extremely proud to commence this term by sending 14 projects to the BT Young Scientist competition in the RDS on Wednesday. This is the 60th year of the competition and we currently have the largest number of finalists attending and competing in the competition from one school nationally. Bearing in mind, we are a small school that yet again has punched above its weight on a national stage. Huge thanks and best wishes to all our students and to Mr Sims, Science Project coordinator who has ensured all our students are fully prepared to shine and be great ambassadors for Mary Immaculate in the RDS this coming week.

First Years will attend the competition in the RDS on Friday January 12TH. This is their annual school tour, and we encourage all students to go.

We wish all our students a happy safe and successful term ahead.
