Senior B Clare Schools Ladies Final

Rice College Ennis and Mary Immaculate Lisdoonvarna contested the Senior ‘B’ Clare Post Primary Schools Ladies Football final in Corofin GAA pitch on Wednesday 18th December. Mary Immaculate settled early with some fine scores while playing with the breeze. Rice College kept within touch of Mary Immaculate but it was Mary Immaculate who held a six point lead at halftime. Rice College battled back in the opening ten minutes of the second half, Mary Immaculate responded with a few scores of their own. Scores were then traded by both sides leaving very little between the teams heading into the last five minutes of the second half. The game ended in a dramatic fashion with Mary Immaculate scoring a late point deep in injury time to take the game to extra time. Rice College had a period of dominance in the opening few minutes of extra time which left Mary Immaculate chasing the game in the final few mins of extra time. However, Rice College stood firm and denied Mary Immaculate any attempt of levelling the game for a second time. Both teams played with great spirit and determination throughout the game and extra time in difficult playing conditions. Referee Noel Quinn presented the Player of the game to Aine Connole before presenting the Cup to Rice College. Well done to all involved.
