COUNTY CHAMPIONS! It was an incredible victory for our U17boys footballers who faced off against St. John Bosco Community College Kildysart today in the U17 County Final in Clarecastle. The game was fast and physical from the throw in. Rory McNamara found Jack O’Loughlin on multiple occasions with his kickouts which allowed us to get up the field and produce scores. A brilliant goal by John McDonnell towards the end of the first half left Mary Immaculate leading by two points at the break. Captain Cathal McNamara supplied excellent ball into our full forward line and we were able to stretch our lead to five points early in the second half, then a well worked goal by Kildysart brought them back into the game. Kildysart pushed up well on our kickout and managed to level the game scoring two more points without reply. An inspirational run and point from Donncha O’Driscoll put Mary Immaculate back in the lead with only a few minutes remaining. Rian O’Neill was powerful in full back and our defense were able to hold out Kildysartin the closing minutes to win by the minimum. Each player involved gave it everything today in a well deserved win for Mary Immaculate. The final score was 1-11 to 2-7. Congratulations lads! Special thanks to Coaches Mr. Conway, Mr. Collins, and Mr. Danaher, as well as all the mentors, supporting staff, and management. We also extend our gratitude to our parents for their unwavering support.
