The Mary Immaculate Secondary School 16th Annual Student Award Ceremony was recently held in the Pavilion. Since our first ceremony in 2009, this event has always been about more than just trophies and certificates. It is a celebration of effort, growth, and, most importantly, the living ethos that defines our school community.
Our school is not just a place of learning—it is a living ethos, one that must be cherished, nurtured, and protected. We do this through respectful interactions, care for ourselves, care for others, and care for our environment. Each of us plays a role in ensuring that this ethos continues to flourish, shaping our school into a beacon of education for generations to come.
We honour students who have excelled in academics, sports, creativity, leadership, and service. To those receiving awards: congratulations! Your dedication and resilience have made a meaningful impact, setting a shining example for all.
But let us also acknowledge those who may leave today without a certificate in hand. Success is not measured solely by awards—it is reflected in every act of kindness, every challenge overcome, and every effort made to contribute positively to our community. When one of us shines, we all shine a little brighter.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely said: “To rejoice in the success of others is to make their happiness your own.”
Together, we take responsibility for safeguarding and strengthening the spirit of our school, ensuring its reputation continues to shine brightly for another 75 years and beyond.
To our staff—thank you for your unwavering support and belief in every student. Special appreciation to Ms. Morrissey for organising today’s event and to Sally for preparing the certificates. Your dedication makes this celebration possible.
And finally, to every student here: keep striving, keep growing, and keep lifting each other up. You are the heart of our school, and we are so proud of you.
Details of the different awards will be put up on this website over the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for them.
